Covid cases surge in South Africa where Omicron variant emerged – BBC News

Nigeria which recorded a few of the earliest installments of Omicron is visiting a major rise in quantity of a disease.

Previously week the daily quantity of new Covid infections has risen quickly, from under 3,000 to greater than 11,500. 75% of recent cases in Nigeria are increasingly being brought on by the Omicron variant.

To date hospital admissions remain low and signs and symptoms from the new variant are considered to be mild.

However the early figures suggest a rise in the amount of those who have already had the condition becoming re-infected.
