Today’s government press conference was handed by Chancellor Rishi Sunak. He was became a member of by Prof Stephen Powis, the medical director of NHS England.

This is what they told us:

Employers is going to be requested to pay for a contribution towards the furlough wage plan. In August they’ll be requested to pay for national insurance and pensions contributions. In September, they’ll be likely to pay 10% of wages, as well as in October 20%, because the government contribution tapers off. The furlough wage cap may also decrease every month. The plan will close

From This summer, a “flexible” furlough is going to be introduced, to permit companies to create staff back part-time

The self-employment plan is going to be extended, with individuals receiving another three-month grant, according to 70% of the previous earnings, in August. The cap around the grant may also be decreased

Any rise in transmission rates or the amount of infections could see targeted limitations re-introduced
